Acapulco is not banned destination by the US Department of State

March 20, 2010. Washington, USA.  The US Department of State Website advices about Mexican destinations and declares about Acapulco:

“Acapulco: Drug-related violence has been increasing in Acapulco. Although this violence is not targeted at foreign residents or tourists, U.S. citizens in these areas should be vigilant in their personal safety.”

Press release continues: “Avoid swimming outside the bay area. Several American citizens have died while swimming in rough surf at the Revolcadero Beach near Acapulco.”

If you come to Acapulco, you must to know that Mexican authorities has been reinforced police security over the touristic areas. There’s no reason to fear for safety and security in Acapulco City.
